Governor's Early Literacy Foundation---Macon County Schools was invited to participate in Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation’s K-3 Home Library program this summer.
Through this program, all rising 1st-3rd grade students (current Kindergarten-2nd grade) in our school district are being given the opportunity to receive six high-quality books and activity pages, delivered to their homes this summer at no cost to families. For more information, see the attached flyer.
By completing the process below, you are opting your child out of participating in the K-3 Home Library program in Summer 2025. This means your child will NOT receive six high-quality books and activity pages, delivered to your home this summer.
If you choose NOT to participate, email hessonc@maconcountyschools.org. Please give your name, your child’s name, and your child’s school. Taking this step will ensure your child will NOT receive the books. In order to opt out, you must email and do so by 12:00 CDT on Friday, February 7th. After that time, we will not be able to remove your child from the recipient list. Please only email if you DO NOT want your child to receive these books.

Parents, Due to the extended number of days we have been out for weather, Macon County School System students will go to school on Wednesday, February 12th.
Originally, students were not going to be in session as it was not an instructional day, and parent/teacher conferences were to be held from 12:00 - 6:00. We will still be having parent-teacher conferences that day, but they will be after school during the hours of 3:00 - 6:00.
Hopefully, this is the only change that will have to be made to our calendar, but in the event that additional changes have to be made, you will be informed immediately. We appreciate your cooperation as this transition is made and apologize for any inconvenience.

While there has been some melting today, it is not enough to allow for safe transportation to and from school. For that reason, Macon County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 17th. The next day of school will be Tuesday, January 21st. Our bus drivers scouted their routes today, and while some roads have cleared somewhat, there are still well over 50 roads that impact over half of our bus routes and remain dangerous. Warmer temperatures for Friday night/Saturday morning rain should help to clear the roads before temperatures drastically drop at the first of next week. Again, Macon County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 17th.

MCHS Seniors and Parents---FAFSA Workshop on Thursday, January 23rd. Please see attached for details.

Due to conditions still very present on multiple side roads on numerous bus routes across the county, Macon County Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 16th. These are pictures taken this afternoon on various roads in the Westside, Lafayette, and RBS areas. There are many roads in addition to those pictured that are still icy and dangerous.

Due to the condition of many side roads in all areas of the county, Macon County Schools will be closed Wednesday, January 15th. It is understood that roads are clear in many areas but the photos represent different roads and different bus routes in our county. This only represents a portion of our roads, there are others in this same condition.
