On Monday, November 11, the Veteran's Day Parade will be held in Lafayette beginning at 11:00. We are going to bus our K-5th grade students from Red Boiling Springs Elementary and Westside Elementary to Lafayette to watch the parade. Fairlane Elementary, Lafayette Elementary, and Central Elementary are on the updated parade route so they will watch it from their schools. The students will then return by bus to school and have a sack lunch waiting for them to have in their classroom. Any parent who does not wish for their student to participate please let the school know and we will keep your child supervised at school.
Students in grades 6-12 are also welcome to watch the parade, but their situation is a little different. Parents are allowed to come and pick up their students from school, or if you are unable to physically come and sign your child out, call and speak to the principal. These students will be expected to return to school upon completion of the parade. If they return to school after the parade, they will not be counted absent. If they do not return to school, they will be counted absent for the classes they have missed. Students will not be allowed to leave without either the parents coming to sign them out or speaking to the principal of the school.
As of now, the weather looks favorable, but if there is a change, we will update if necessary.
The school system feels that Veteran's Day is very important and we want to make it available for as many students as we can. Our country is greatly indebted to these men and women and this day should not be taken advantage of, but rather respected for the celebration of what it is.

Reminder---NO SCHOOL tomorrow, November 5th due to Election Day. 🇺🇸

The Lafayette Lions Club is conducting their yearly Drug Essay Contest for students in Macon County (Lafayette and Red Boiling Springs). The original Essay Form that was sent out earlier was the incorrect form. The picture included with this announcement is the correct form. This form was taken to the schools on October 24.
The Drug Essay Contest is due December 13 and all entries will be picked up at the student’s school. The Drug Essay Contest is for students in junior high and high school. First place winners at the junior high level and at the high school level will receive a cash prize. Please see the picture of the form for rules of the contest.
Winners at each level will go on to compete in the district level. Last year Macon County was very proud to have a first, second and third place winner at the district level in the essay contest. We would love to have lots of participants again this year. We have very talented students in Macon County!
If you have any questions or need any forms, please contact Teresa Gregory at 615-888-6388.
The Peace Poster contest was sent out earlier. A photo of the contest rules and due date is included with this announcement .
